Saturday Summer

Learn to Play - Red and Orange Ball

Open to just starting and new players between ages 6-10.   Must be able to demonstrate proper eye-hand coordination to bounce the ball on the racquet and make contact on ground strokes using 36/60 foot court.  Able to simple point play.

Futures -Green Ball

Open to all graduates of Learn to Play read the new players 10 plus years old.  Able to move to futures when a player demonstrates the proper technique with all ground strokes serves and volleys.  Can demonstrate simple consistency (3 in a row) on the full-sized court.  Able to keep score.

Pip Squeak Tennis Practice 

Open to all 4 - 6 years old.  Able to move to LTP red when demonstrates hand-eye coordination to balance a ball on the racquet and master smush and push.

Learn to Play - Orange 

After mastering LTP Red, children move onto the LTP Orange level where the ball bounces a little higher (50% compression) and the court is slightly larger.  Players develop their tennis skills, athletic ability, and learn the art of court coverage which is crucial for being able to rally.  A multitude of fun and competitive games are used to develop the skills needed for rallying.

High School Training 

Open to all graduates of futures and players on JV and varsity teams.  Able to move to elite when a player can demonstrate some successful consistency (10 in a row).  Can demonstrate the proper footwork and has knowledge of point construction and both singles and doubles.

Girls JV/Varsity 

 

The MatchPoint Girls JV/Varsity Clinics are geared towards those players that would like to improve their JV/Varsity skill and make strides to improve their spot on their team.  This clinic will be both drills and point play to fine tune the skills necessary to compete at the JV/Varsity Level.

Varsity Training

This class is meant for players who already play at the varsity level and/or L7/L6 USTA tournaments. Players in the class should be looking to play in more tournaments. For best results players in this class should be targeting to train 10 hours (60/40 split) per week. To be in this class, one should have the ability to play matches unassisted, have the ability to perform every shot required to play a match to a technically satisfactory level

 

Approval Required.

1. MUST PARTICIPATE IN TWO (2) SESSIONS OF MATCH PLAY AND/OR ONE USTA TOURNAMENT TO BE IN CLASS EACH SESSION.  MATCH PLAY WILL BE HELD SATURDAYS AT 9:30AM ON A WEEKLY BASIS UNLESS CANCELLED DUE TO AN EVENT. 

2. MUST ENROLL IN TWO (2) CLASS DAYS PER WEEK

College Training

This class is for players already competing in USTA tournaments and at the sectional level (qualifying for sections) in high school tennis. This class is meant to prepare players for college tennis. This means participants should be training a minimum of 10 hours (60/40 split) per week. Class only accounts for 3 hours of on-court training and 1 hour of off-court training, meaning players are expected to hit, play matches, and do off-court work outs on their own. All drills shown in class are repeatable with a hitting partner, all off-court training drills shown in fitness class use minimal equipment and space (most are able to be completed within 20 sq. feet!), all players are encouraged to play matches anywhere they can with each other, with the addition of scheduled matchplay days every week at MatchPoint. All the tools are made available to complete these tasks.

Class requirements

3-6.5 UTR

Attending a minimum of two 8-week sessions per year

Off-court training should be repeated at home a minimum of every other day for best results

Playing 2 or more USTA tournaments per session and/or 4 matchplay days (1 tournament counts for two matchplay days). Matches can be played outside of MatchPoint matchplay.

    • UTR 6.5+

    • Playing 18+ tournaments per year regularly competing in 

      • 16 and under L5 or better

      • 14 and under L4 or better

      • 12 and under L2 or better
